High-pressure die casting is a fast and precise method of producing zinc or aluminum components. Industries that need concise requirements use high-pressure die casting for production.

When it comes to production efficiency, there must be steps to follow. We will explore the various steps in which high-pressure die casting improves production efficiency.

1. Production of the mold

The first step to ensure improved production is through the careful machining of the hardened steel die to create a cavity. The cavity has the shape of the product to produce. The dimension and shape of the cavity to be the exact shape of the product to produce.

2. Preparation of the Mold

The next step is to prepare the mold by lubricating the walls of the cavity. The essence of the lubricant is to regulate the temperature of the mold and create a film between the mold and the molten metal. It also allows easy removal of the casting product.

3. Setting Up the Die and Melting the Metal

Before the injection of the molten metal, the die is pre-heated on the die-casting machine. The quantity at a time is important as it determines the economic process of the production. A gas-powered or electric furnace is used for melting the alloy into molten form.

4. Injection of molten metal

The molten metal is injected into the mold. The content must be completely sealed or closed at this stage. This is how the process improves productivity efficiency. If the mold is not completely closed, it may on withstand the pressure. Depending on the requirement, the molten metal may be exposed to 1500 – 25,000 PSI.

The stays with the pressure until the metal is solidified. The metal cools quickly with the pressure to minimize contraction.

5. Cavity Ejection

The solidified metal is ready for ejection. There is an ejection pin that allows easy removal. Some molds are formed with two halves. So, the two halves are separated for the ejection of the solid.

6. The Finishing

Here, the workers inspect the solid to confirm that the exact or required product is produced. Final touches are carried out to make the product ready for the customers. On the other hand, the mold is cleaned up for reuse.

Improvement of Production Efficiency

From the steps above, it is clear that high-pressure die casting has many ways it improved production efficiency. Some of the ways are:

1. Cost-Effective

High-pressure die casting is an efficient process that is suitable for mass production of parts. It happens to be the most cost-effective method for high-volume production.

2. Fast Production

The process is fast and allows mass production within a short period. The precision and speed of turnover reduce waste and lower the cost per unit of production.

3. Production of Thin-Walled machineries

The effect of the high pressure enables the production of thin-walled machinery. Thus, allowing the production of lightweight components that still maintain high durability and strength.

4. Smooth finishing

The surfaces of the finished products are smooth. It reduces the secondary smoothing process and saves time and money. The products are ready for consumers within a short period of production.
